Community of Grace Sponsoring Refugee Families from Burma
Community of Grace is sponsoring a second refugee family from Burma.
These families have fled Burma to escape the brutal Myanmar (Burma) military offensive that has swept through their country. Troops have burned villages and food stores, and they have savagely tortured and killed villagers. Those who escaped, like the Lam and Ah Gate families (along with half a million Burmese people), have been displaced for all these years, and many have been living in refugee camps in Thailand for over a decade.
On August 23, 2007, NoSa Lam (age 27), his wife ZarZar (age 23), and their two daughters: ThaZin (age 5) and TinSay (age 3) arrived in Phoenix from a refugee camp in Thailand.
Nearly a year later, on July 8, 2008, Ah Gate (age 56), his wife Ah Mee (age 46), their son Po Lone (age 17) and daughters Ya Min That Win (age 11) and Mya Min Way (age 7) arrived to make their new life in America.
Mya Min Way received her "new" used bicycle today, so all 3 kids are now the proud owners of donated bikes. It's a great way for them to get to and from school and to get around. With 3 bikes on their little patio, it looks like they need designated parking.
